"It's Really A Love Song"

About the Song:
This song was written in 2019 to a prompt presented to us by our buddy Joby Hurst. He is a musician himself and had friends getting married at Loveless Cafe. Joby decided to organize his songwriter friends and make a compilation. "Loveless Cafe songs" This was our submission. We sent it to him from a phone recording and had a blast writing our love song that hits a little different.

About the Recording:
Flash forward a couple years. Those years were challenging..the germs, the uncertainty. Lots of our buds quit playing music and reinvented themselves. It is not lost on us how that equation adds up. Mad respect to all the independent artists and small businesses out there betting on themselves. Anywho,
Enter our beautiful Kentucky music family.
What an incredible journey we have been on.
This track really started with our trip to Jackson, KY and coming to see Sam Rogers at FAT CAVE STUDIOS. Check them out! The Raddest. We packed up Grandpa's old truck and set out to the most beautiful place. I really cannot possibly tell you enough good about Sam and our experience recording with him. He has been the most patient and professional navigating all my low tech questions and delays and just more than you probably care to learn about, in all honesty. Go record with him!
Anyhow, here's a live take from the way back machine.. We love this silly song and hope you will too.

About the Art:
This art started out as an idea to promote our YouTube channel series "Tailgate Sessions" I reached out to everyone's favorite, Jimbo Valentine. This man is an experienced pro and it shows, made it real easy and awesome. He sent us just what we asked for and we were thrilled. Not long after, the truck broke down and Tailgate Sessions took a backseat. Time passed and this art sat when finally, inspiration struck! I reached out to Jimbo to see if he would work his magic again and here we are. Cover art for our From The Vault Sessions. Recorded at a time when we toured in the old Dakota and were happy as clams about it. I cannot thank him enough for commemorating my Grandpa's truck and making it all come together. You'll be seeing more as we release more from this session. Jimbo for President! Check him out at Amalgam Art.

lyrics

Loveless Cafe.
Co-Written by John Bowyer and Jayme Hood

Once upon a time on a long lonely ride I saw a sign up ahead in the distance. I pulled off to the side, nearly fell off my bike and stumbled right up to the entrance. I saw a beautiful girl through the window with curls, taking orders with her bright blue eyes. I knew right then the trouble I was in cause it was Love at First Sight.

Cause she had a plate of fried chicken with all the right fixins. I could smell apple pie baking up in the kitchen. What can I say? It's my lucky day. I met the girl of my dreams at the Loveless Cafe.

This guy on a bike pulled up in the drive and stumbled right into my section. He was staring so I started glaring to cover my heart's resurrection. Was he the one? That son of a gun. He had a strange gleam in his eye. He was just passing through but somehow I knew.
He wanted a piece of my pie.

Cause I had a plate of fried chicken with all the right fixins. My kinda guy, a lowdown drifter. What can I say? It's my lucky day. I met the dude of my dreams at the Loveless Cafe.

Cause She had a plate of fried chicken with all the right fixins. I could smell apple pie baking up in the kitchen. What can I say? It's my lucky day, I met the girl of my dreams (met the dude of my deams) at the Loveless Cafe.
